PURPOSE: To make a torsional force escape and to properly measure an extraction force by a method wherein an insulator support ring which has supported a cable sample is placed on a thrust bearing which has been arranged on the bottom plate of a stand and a tensile force is exerted on a conductor as the sample extracted to the outside of the bottom plate. ;CONSTITUTION: A thrust bearing 5 is arranged on the bottom plate 1a for a stand 1, and an insulator support ring 3 which supports a sample 2 as a cross-linked polyethylene cable is placed on it. A conductor 2a for the sample 2 is inserted into, and passed through, a ring 3 and the bearing 5, and extend to the outside from the base plate 1a and a clamping utensil 43 is attached to its end part. Chucks for an extraction machine are attached respectively to a protrusion part 1c formed on a ceiling 1b for the stand 1 and to a protrusion part 4d formed at the lower part of the clamping utensil 4, and the extraction force of the conductor 2a is measured. When a torsional force is generated at the conductor 2a in a measurement, the sample 2 is turned and moved to the torsional direction of the conductor 2a together with the ring 3 and acts so as to make a torsional force escape, and the extraction force can be measured porperly.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
