摘要

PURPOSE: To produce a lime-based flux for metal refining, a heat insulating material for smelted steel and a refractory wall for refining furnace by using carbide slag as an industrial waste. ;CONSTITUTION: Carbide slag in a naturally dried state is granulated into a size of about 5mm to 20mm, heated at 90C to 110C to 1wt.% water content and calcined at 500C to 700C Consequently, lightly burnt quick lime can be obtained as fine powder having large specific surface area and made into powder quick lime for injection, which is introduced into smelted metal in a metal refining furnace to promote formation of metal slag. When the burning temperature is 1,000C to 1,500C granules having about 5mm to 10mm diameter difficult to be air-slaked are obtained and can be used as a heat insulating material to be floated on smelted metal to suppress heat dissipation of molten metal. When the burning temperature is 1,500C, a basic refractory wall material for metal refining furnace can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
