PURPOSE: To obtain method and device for detecting a break of a timing belt driving a toggle mechanism in a motor-operated injection molding machine and outputting a signal for stopping an injection molding cycle. ;CONSTITUTION: In a motor-operated injection molding machine which is so constructed that a torque of a motor 31 can be transmitted to a toggle mechanism 10 of the injection molding machine by a timing belt 37, a torque of the motor required for an injection molding process in a normal operation state is stored in a memory means. On the other hand, a torque of the motor at the time of injection molding is detected by a torque detection means. The stored torque value is compared with the detected torque value. If the detected torque value is smaller than the stored torque value by a predetermined amount, the break of the timing belt 37 is judged, and a signal for stopping the motor 31, the injection molding machine, or the like is outputted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
