PURPOSE: To produce a stiff non-fraying edge of a double woven fabric on a double-rapier loom by forming a crossing part through a double shed crossing device corresponding to openings of upper and lower sheds formed with a stationary yarn and a crossing yarn. CONSTITUTION: This double woven fabric is woven by a double-rapier loom. A third main carrier 16 is transferred while keeping positions of a first and a second main carriers 12 and 14 corresponding to simultaneous opening of upper and lower sheds 108 and 106 through crossing devices comprising needle carriers 98 and 118 guiding stationary yarns 130 and 142 and slot plates 102 and 110 guiding crossing yarns 138 and 148 and horizontal slot plates deciding positions of the slot plates, to transfer the crossing yarns from one end to other end in corresponding inclined slots 104 and 112, and the crossing devices are transferred from the first shed position to the second shed position. Occasionally, side change is performed while forming crossing parts to the stationary yarns 130 and 142. Then, a non-fraying end is formed by transferring the crossing part to a direction forming a finished cloth 136.
