PURPOSE: To subject an austenitic stainless steel tube contg. titanium to solid solution heat treatment without deteriorating its corrosion resistance. ;CONSTITUTION: This is the method for solid solution heat treatment of a titanium-contg. austenitic stainless steel tube in which, at the time of executing solid solution heat treatment, the inside of the steel tube is passed with an argon-oxygen mixed gas contg. 2 to 50vol.% oxygen by 3 to 50 times the volume in the steel tube in the process of heat treatment to form an oxidized film at the inside face of the steel tube and the inside of the tube is filled with an argon gas to prevent the infiltration of nitrogen into the steel and to prevent the formation of TiN checking the growth of crystal grains. In this way, the growth of the austenitic crystal grains is not checked, its solid solution heat treatment is perfectly executed and fine-grained layers deteriorated in corrosion resistance are not formed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
