PURPOSE: To shorten the time required for tests and to save power consumption by computing and outputting the final estimated temperature when the deviation between the actually measured value of the temperature and the computed temperature with a model is within the specified range. ;CONSTITUTION: The temperature-increase test is started, and the measurement of time is performed in a temperature-increase-testing-time measuring device 9. The actually measured temperature value θc is acquired from a stator coil 2 through a stator-coil-temperature measuring device 5, and dθ/dt is computed in a [d9/dt] operating device 10. The value of thermal resistance R is computed in a thermal-resistance operating device 12 based on θc and dθ/dt. The time change pattern of the thermal resistance R is made to be the numerical expression. The time change pattern of the thermal resistance R having the closest value of R in a thermal resistance memory device 14 is selected. In a temperature-increase-value operating device 11, the computed temperature θ with a model is computed by using the selected pattern. In an adder 7, the actually measured temperature value θc is compared with the computed temperature θ. The fact that an adaptive algorithm 8 and the deviation ε thereof are in the specified range is judged. When the deviation ε is within the specified range, the final estimated temperature ϕn is computed by using the selected time change pattern of the thermal resistance R. When the deviation ε is outside the specified range, the time change pattern of the thermal resistance R is corrected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
