NEUTRON-RADIOGRAPHY TESTING APPARATUS FOR CONTROL ELEMENT OF BOILING WATER REACTOR

PURPOSE: To largely improve qualities of images by eliminating water from the internal space of a hood having an opening through its wall section near a film cassette by using an air pressure. CONSTITUTION: A cross-like control element 1 houses a tube 2 containing an absorber extended in the length direction. The control element 1 positioned in a water pool 3 is covered with a hood 4. The hood 4 has an opened bottom and is positioned to various testing positions by means of a host and water is eliminated from the internal space of the hood 4 by using an air pressure from a compressed air connecting section 5. A collimator system is incorporated in the hood 4 and two vanes of the control element 1 are always directed to a divergent collimator 7. The inlet opening of the collimator 7 has a neutron source 8. A film cassette 9 contains an image recorder and positioned in a holding device 10. In order to position the cassette 9 accurately, the holding device 10 has a guide face.
