PURPOSE: To obtain an optimum solution at a high speed by finding approximate solutions in parallel with plural processors, selecting optimum step size by postevaluation from the results, and using the value of the optimum step size. ;CONSTITUTION: When different initial step size values are supplied to the respective processors 2a-2n, the respective processors 2a-2n find integral values and local truncation errors at respective discrete points in parallel. Then, when the found truncation errors satisfy a permissible error, the maximum value is selected from among the step size values that the processors 2a-2n whose errors are less than the permissible error currently used and this maximum step size is supplied to all the processors 2a-2n as the value of step size up to a next calculation point. This process is repeated until reaching a next discrete point and then, while the optimum value of step size between plural discrete points is selected, approximate solution at respective discrete points of the ordinary differential equation are found.
