SUBMERGED VIBRATION-PROOF STRUCTURE OF HALF-SETTLED ON BOTTOM

PURPOSE: To obviate to use a laminated rubber as an isolator and inexpensively and efficiently absorb the vibratory energy (in particular, vertically) by making sufficient use of the buoyancy. ;CONSTITUTION: The structure is provided with an outer peripheral foundation structure 1 constructed in the ground G, having a box form with the bottom, a building 2 constructed so as to extend from the outer peripheral foundation structure 1 to the space above the ground, a vibration-proof device 3 composed of hydraulic devices equipped between the building 2 and the outer peripheral foundation structure 1 (foundation slab, in details), and an earthquake observation system 4 installed at a required position in the ground G. The building 2 is usually positioned on the underground level in water at the bottom thereof through the vibration-proof devices 3 composed of hydraulic units. When an earthquake larger than a specified magnitude is detected by the earthquake observation system 4, the vibration-proof device 3 composed of hydraulic units is quickly controlled to suspend the building 2 under water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
