PURPOSE: To shorten the carry-in time of plates and eliminate unnecessary preparation at the time of detecting two plate taking action so as to improve work efficiency by detecting two plate taking action abreast with the carry-in operation of the plates to a plate working machine by a robot. ;CONSTITUTION: One plate is sucked by a vacuum pad 29, and after confirming the position of a holding member 27 by a sensor 39 according to the position of a dog 37 provided on the holding member 27, and storing the data into a control device, a robot sucks another plate, and at the same time, the position of the holding member 27 is measured by the sensor. This position data is compared with the position data at the time of sucking one plate by the above- mentioned control device.
