PURPOSE: To obtain a material useful as sealant or the like by eliminating problems of unpleasant odor and corrosion incurred by ordinary catalyst systems by allowing a specific reagent to be present as a catalyst and to carry out the reaction under specified conditions at the time of producing alkoxysilyl- terminated material from silanols-terminated materials. ;CONSTITUTION: At the time when alkoxysilyl-terminated materials are obtained from materials having 1 or more silanol-terminated terminals (e.g.: silanol- terminated polydimethylsiloxane), the process is constituted by allowing the said material having 1 or more terminals to react with silane having 2 or more alkoxy groups (e.g.: vinyltrimethoxysilane) and the synthesis process is carried out in the co-presence of a catalytically effective amount of an organo-lithium reagent (e.g.: n-butyllithium) and under conditions where a polar or non-protonic solvent is essentially absent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
