According to the invention, a flame retardant by forming water, such as alumina trihydrate, ests incorporated into coating resin to an adequate amount of at least 20% of the total weight of the resin, which substance has been previously partially dehydrated by heating to a weight loss that may be between 0.5 and about 10% of the initial weight, so as to avoid, during the unit's commissioning at its normal operating temperature '' hot '' unintentional formation of water which may undermine the holding of the coating resin. The invention improves the fire resistance of electrical installations increasing at their operating temperature, the thermal stability of the coating resin. The invention applies to the dry préféérentiellement power transformers and distribution of electricity.
