The invention relates to a study of the physico-chemical transitions of a system. The system is placed in a cell (1) hydraulically connected to a compensation chamber (2) filled with a hydraulic liquid, the volume of the compensation chamber or the pressure in the compensation chamber is controlled to produce various thermodynamic situations of the transition and the quantity of heat produced by the transition and a mechanical variable of the system studied are measured simultaneously. In a preferred embodiment, a stepper motor (3) is used, actuating a piston (4) for controlling the volume of the compensation chamber.
