A soft gelatin capsule used for treating the gastrointestinal tract contains a therapeutic agent mixed with an oil as vehicle. In order to convert the agent, especially when it has a powdery consistency, into a form which can be encapsulated directly with the vehicle, the vehicle is a silicone oil or a silicone oil mixture, which themselves have a therapeutic value as agents, e.g. for flatulence, and thus fulfil a dual function as hydrophobic vehicle when agents in the form of plant extracts such as sennosides, or of chemotherapeutic substances such as bisacodyl, are used.
