Outer coating to prevent frost effect on high voltage insulators - comprises electrically insulating material with high average reflectance for electromagnetic waves

A new coating material for high voltage insulators has a high reflectance of electromagnetic waves in the range 8-13 micron. The material partic. has reflectance greater than 50% in this range, and a resitivity greater than 10 power 10 ohm m. A coating with high reflectance also from 16-20 microns is claimed as are materials of low atomic weight, contg. mixed covalent and ionic bonding. Metal oxide and particularly beryllium oxide are also claimed, partic. in thickness of at least 1 micron.
