Many production cycles of different industries require the use of liquids of different types stored in tanks of different shape and capacity. Said tanks are normally opaque and are positioned in poorly accessible locations which make it difficult to know the exact contents during sampling and filling in the usual manner. It can be added that said tanks can contain liquids with extremely different chemical and physical nature, sometimes toxic or even hazardous. Because of the difficulty of this direct control, loading of products into tanks occurs in excess or, on the contrary, production is shut down because removals have unexpectedly exhausted the contents in storage. The present control systems are not very reliable and to guarantee functioning it is necessary to resort to extremely sophisticated and expensive devices and therefore anti-economical, when the number of tanks to be monitored is considerable. An instrument is described that permits elimination of the aforementioned drawbacks.
