The equipment is for use on machines with an overhead conveyor formed by a series of carriers (5) for hooks (6) from which the birds (18) are suspended by their feet (19). The conveyor is provided with a semi-circular stretch around frame (8,9) which rotates on vertical shaft (3) synchronised with the conveyor. A series of columns (10) is provided, on which slide blocks (13) with movement defined by fixed helical guide (19), each coinciding with one of hooks (6) and carrying lever mechanism (15,16,20,21). In the first upward movement, this grips head (17) of the suspended bird, and on reaching the upper limit of travel releases the head and pushes it into the appropriate housing in the hook.
