Granular calcium supplement for feeding poultry during the laying period

This granular calcium supplement is composed fundamentally of two fractions: the first of them, or inner fraction, formed by one or more seed nuclei, with a particle size preferably between 1 and 3 mm, and a second, pulverulent fraction which covers the previous fraction. The first fraction is composed of a calcium carbonate and/or calcium sulphate, and the second fraction of calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, calcium oxide and sodium bicarbonate in powder form, it being possible for it also to contain other, secondary constituents. The food supplement comprises between 30 and 60% of the first fraction and between 70 and 40% of the second fraction. This calcium supplement is of special use in the feeding of birds in the laying period, in order to achieve greater shell hardness for the egg with a view to preventing breakage of the shell during the gathering, storage and transportation processes.
