Abstract of the InventionA computer method is disclosed for accurately transformingmultiple radar observations of aircraft into a commoncoordinate system for air traffic control applications. Themethod involves a transformation from radar observables of thetarget slant range, azimuth and altitude to the target positioncoordinates in a stereographic system plane for display. Themethod includes a conformal coordinate conversion process fromgeodetic to conformal spherical coordinates followed by aconformal stereographic projection process onto a systemdisplay plane. The resulting display of aircraft position onthe system plane is more accurate than has been available inthe prior art.
