AbstractThe present invention relates to a HANFO explosive consistingof a mixture of at least one nitrate-oil explosive (ANFO-type)and at least one water-in-oil explosive, and a method for itsmanufacture. The oil of the ANFO part contains 0.3 - 7.0weight% based on the weight of the oil component of theoilsoluble elastomer having a viscosity average molecularweight of 30.000 - 5 mill., preferably 900.000 - 2.5 mill. Themanufacture of the HANFO explosive can be carried out by firstadding an oilsoluble elastomer to the oil of the ANFO-typeexplosive, then mixing the oil with sodium-, ammonium- and/orcalcium nitrate and then mixing this mixture together with awater-in-oil emulsion explosive. The HANFO explosive can beapplied both in bulk and cartridged form.
