AbstractThe present invention relates to a method and a system forreserving and allocating a plurality of competing demands for an ordered bycommunications network in response to a plurality of demands from a source. Thenetwork includes a plurality of customer sites, each site including one or moreendpoints. Each endpoint is connectable to a switching system. The switchingsystem is connectable to one or more other switching systems. A unit is providedfor connecting a first endpoint through the one or more switching systems to asecond endpoint. The improvement with respect to the method is comprised of thesteps of receiving demands from a customer site for allocating the network for acommunications among a plurality of customer sites; stratifying the receiveddemands in response to a grouping of endpoints to be conferenced at the customersites and allocating the network resources to connect the endpoints to beconferenced in response to the stratified demand. The method includes generatingsetup and terminate times for each endpoint to be connected in a conference;reserving the endpoints to be connected in the conference; and generating aplurality of bindings for signalling the network and the source as to success ofconnecting the endpoints to be conferenced over the ordered bus network. Theimproved system includes a unit for receiving demands from a customer site forallocating the network for a communication among a plurality of customer sites; aunit for stratifying the received demands in response to a grouping of endpoints tobe conferenced at the customer sites and a unit for allocating the networkresources to connect the endpoints to be conferenced in response to the stratifieddemand. The system includes a unit for generating setup and terminate time foreach endpoint to be connected in a conference; a unit for reserving the endpointsto be connected in the conference and a unit for generating a plurality of bindingsfor signalling the network and the source as to success of connecting the endpointsto be conferenced over the ordered bus network.
