The invention pertains to an apparatus that can be used as a toy and as a means of measuring and demonstrating simple physical phenomena, that consists of an elastic, hermetically sealable, liquid-storing container (1) made in part or entirely of a transparent material, that can be filled to the container's full capacity with a liquid (3) and with one or more miscible, preferably transparent liquids of differing specific gravity, thermal expansion and viscosity, that also consists of one or more hollow bodies (4) placed in the liquid (3). Said hollow bodies (4) are made at least partially of elastic material and filled with gas and/or liquid (6). They can change their volume as a result of a pressure and/or temperature change. The weight of the hollow body(ies) (4) corresponds roughly to the weight of the displaced liquid (3) (maximum difference 10 %).
