The rain gauge, usable in an isolated station, comprises a reception funnel, equipped, at its lower part, with a water discharging nozzle (16) at the entry to which is placed and arranged a filter (14). The rain gauge also comprises a device for detection of clogging of the filter, having a source (30) arranged at the entry to the funnel, placed in such a way as to illuminate the bottom of the funnel above the filter (14) and a sensor (32) for the light which is reflected and diffused by the bottom of the funnel and which has passed through the filter and the nozzle. The said sensor is placed below the nozzle and laterally offset with respect to the latter. An electronic box (24) is connected to the source (30) to instigate emission of light pulses by the latter at regular intervals of time and detects the output signals from the sensor (32) which exceed a predetermined threshold. …IMAGE…
