The arrangement comprises a pressure zone formed between a cylindrical roller (4) and a sliding belt (6) which is slidably supported by a shoe-shaped part (8) while wrapping it, this piece being shaped so that the sliding belt comes into contact with a portion of the circumference of the roller (4) to form a constriction. feeding mechanisms (10, 12) are provided for supplying lubricant to a lubricating layer between the sliding belt and the shoe-shaped part, and the latter (8) is supported against a roll (14 ) placed on the opposite side of the workpiece relative to the press roll (4). The side (15) of the shoe-shaped part (8) facing against roller (14) is not concave.
