Method and device for optimizing the radio link for a digital radio transmission system in difference of space and/or angle by varying the relative attenuation level between the two channels
A method and apparatus for optimizing the radio link in a digital radio transmission system employing space and/or angle diversity by varying the relative attenuation level between the two diversity channels. The intermediate frequency estimated bit error rate ("analog BER") function is initially optimized by varying the phase in the main channel. This optimum phase value is then fixed and further improvement in the analog BER function is achieved by changing a variable which represents the index of imbalance between the two attenuators i.e. as one attenuator value is increased the other is decreased by the same amount.
