The process serves for the disposal of products containing asbestos fibres, removed during asbestos decontamination from buildings, and comprises digesting the asbestos fibres, after comminution of the asbestos fibre-containing products, in the presence of a flux by melting at temperatures below 1000 DEG C and converting them into non-hazardous metal oxides.
