A device for collecting waste, particularly that generated domestically and by gastronomic services and the like, comprises a waste container (14) open at the top, to which is assigned a cover (11) which covers its opening (13) and is movable for the purpose of releasing the opening when throwing in waste, which is held outside the container, preferably on a structure (4) surrounding the container.
