A method of using a fast pyrolysis in a carrier gas for converting a feed stream of waste plastics of a mixed polymer composition so that pyrolysis of a given polymer, the monomer component of value is effected before the pyrolysis of other plastics components in the stream. The method includes: selecting a first temperature programming range for carrying out the pyrolysis of said given polymer and converting it to a monomer component of value before selecting a temperature range causing the pyrolysis of other plastic elements; choosing a catalyst and a support for processing said feed streams using the catalyst to create basic catalysis feedback path or acid and maximize yield or to enhance the separation of said monomer component into said valuable temperature range; differentially heating said stream to a heat intensity in the first temperature setting range in order to perform a differential pyrolysis and selectively recover optimum amounts of the monomer components of high value prior to pyrolysis of other plastic elements ; separating the valuable monomer components; choosing a second higher temperature range for carrying out the pyrolysis of a monomer component different valuable waste plastics, and to heat differentially the feed stream in a higher temperature range to effect the pyrolysis this different component; and separating thereof.
