The invention relates to cell lines useful for the analysis of interchromosomal recombination human homologue. Cell lines carry endogenous mutant alleles of a selectable gene and can regenerate a selectable phenotype by homologous genetic recombination, but not by large deletion of nucleotides or by chromosome loss. Analyzes using the cell lines used to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of combination of events that occur between human chromosomes in somatic cells in culture. The analysis is based on normal genes in their normal chromosomal site. The analyzes can be used to test environmental agents that induce homologous recombination in human cells.
