Clamps are shown for securing the paper log while the log saw or cutter is cutting a shorter length of toilet paper roll or kitchen towel or similar all purpose wire roll from the log. The clamp is disposed adjacent to the logging sheet or post as well as adjacent to the cutting blade. The clamp includes a pair of adjustable and symmetrical arcuate strips 212, 214 secured to the struts 207, 209 on each log sheet and on oppossides of the cross-section T-T through which the blades pass. The strip is a flexible material having an end that tends to spring outward. The tab 222 is fixed to the holding holder 224 and the adjusting holder 246. The tie may encircle a pair of strips 212, 214 and alter its placement. Drives 240,262,218 simultaneously adjust both the length of tie 222 and both symmetry angles of the two appendages 228A: 228B and thus of the two cradles on which the strip is supported.
