The insect repellent fabric has a coating containing permethrin and a plasticizer, and the barrier covers the coating to protect the permethrin from degradation by ultraviolet and oxygen. The barrier may be an acrylic cloth or film, an aluminum foil, a urethane coating or film, or an outer textile barrier such as awn or tent ply.
