FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: resistance of individual phase is measured with the aid meter. Values of resistance over definite time interval are averaged and compared between themselves. If they are close in value then operating condition of furnace is normal and distance electrode-bottom may be determined by one phase with the use of dependence obtained in advance. If values of resistance of individual phases differ by more than 5% then operating condition of furnace is asymmetric and distance electrode-bottom should be determined for each electrode. EFFECT: improved reliability of control over operation of ore-smelting furnace. 1 tbl, 3 dwg
