FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing initial form, for example concave, flat or convex, to cross profile of soil surface to be cultivated or to material simulating soil, which is supposed to be in contact with ripper operating surface; creating excessive pressure and applying it to ripper operating surface, supposed to contact with soil and made from flexible material, with pressure being applied from side opposite to direction of action of soil. As a result of deformation of soil layer, initial shape of cross profile of contacting surfaces is changed under the action of operating surface. Such change is detected at successive stages of development of deformation of material subjected to treatment. Data obtained is used for designing respective parts of soil ripper operating surface. EFFECT: increased efficiency and high quality of soil cultivation. 3 dwg
