FIELD: strength testing of shell-type structures. SUBSTANCE: method involves loading a shell-type structure in a chamber with an external pressure and bending moment together with the chamber, measuring resistance force of the chamber to bending and displacement acting in a plane of bending moment orthogonally to the axis of shell in the contact locations of the chamber and shell-type structure being tested and step-wise applying additional forces equal in a magnitude and opposite in direction with respect to measured ones. At the end of each step a predetermined momentum value and equality of additional forces to resistance forces are provided. The method is characterized in that simultaneously with application of additional forces to the chamber a displacement of the chamber relative to the shell-type structure being tested is determined and additional forces are increased till formation a space in their contact, the chamber is additionally moved relative to the shell-type structure in points, located in the plane of bending moment and diametrically opposite to the contact location, additional forces being increased till providing contact of the chamber and shell-type structure in these points. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy due to excluding force interaction of the chamber with the shell-type structure.
