The invention relates to a process for the separation of 1,4-dioxan from aqueous solutions of the alkali metal, ammonium and alkanolammonium salts of alkyl polyglycol ether sulphates and alkylaryl polyglycol ether sulphates, which is characterised in that the crude product is continuously heated in a preheater (2) to 50-100 DEG C, the heated crude product is continuously divided by a nozzle into fine drops and pumped into a spray chamber (3), the spray chamber is kept by means of a vacuum pump (5) at a pressure of 50-100 mbar, the product is kept mobile by a stirrer in the spray vessel and is continuously withdrawn by a discharge pump (4). In addition, superheated steam can be injected into the spray chamber. The invention further relate to an apparatus for carrying out this separation process. IMAGE
