The blocking device uses a blocking lever (12) normally housed in a U rail (10) located beneath the parking place and released after a timed delay when a vehicle is driven into the latter, via a setting motor (22) acting on the free end (16) of the blocking lever (12). The setting motor (22) is contained within a column at the side of the parking place incorporating a coin-operated or card-operated release mechanism, for returning the blocking lever (12) into its rest position. Pref. the sensor for releasing the blocking lever (12) comprises a conductor loop embedded in the ground. USE - For preventing unauthorised use of restricted parking place.
