Artificial nesting boxes (1) for birds are made of heat insulating material. They have a base (3), sides (6, 7) and a roof (8). A detachable panel (5) fills the open front (4) and has a small access hole and offers a refuge for the birds, to protect them from predators such as cats and martins, attached to the roof (8) is a hanger (26). The panel (5) is formed into an oriel window like projection (33) providing an extension to the nest box interior and in the upper part of which is the access. USE/ADVANTAGE - Nesting box for birds is readily adopted as a safe refuge which prevents entry of predators such as cats and martins.
