A gas turbine which is used for propelling a vehicle uses diesel oil or petrol as fuel and at full load operates at a speed denoted by (n). Between idling speed and a speed of 0.5 n the gas turbine is operated to minimise fuel consumption. Above the speed of 0.5 n the relation between operating temperature (T) and speed is given by one of the three curves (a, b, c) shown in fig (1). The curve (a) is followed for minimum fuel consumption, the curve (b) is followed for optimum performance and the curve (c) produces the minimum of harmful gases in the turbine exhaust.
