The store is for asphalt, which has been cut from road surfaces. The surface is divided into large slabs. Each slab is lifted by a suction grab, and stored in a stack. Any gases and dust generated during cutting are removed by suction. The cut edges etc. are coated with an emulsion, to prevent escape of contaminants. The slabs are used for the bed of a new road, or they may be stacked on the sand core of a dike or mound, to form the substructure for a dike crest. The stack is covered on the sides by sand and/or clay. The whole may serve as the bed for a roadway along the dike. USE/ADVANTAGE - Store for hardened pieces of asphalt prevents contamination of atmosphere and ground, and permits reuse of asphalt cut from redundant road surfaces.
