The tackle has an I-beam (10) with a pair of wheels (12,14) rolling on the lower flange. Beside one wheel is the horizontal drive mechanism (16) for the load platform and beside the other is the vertical drive mechanism (18). The load platform is carried below the beam. The wheel beside the horizontal drive mechanism is the driving wheel for the whole assembly and underneath the flange are pressure rollers (28) to give traction to the driving wheel and to compensate for any variation in flange thickness. The pressure rollers are held in a spring- loaded carrier (20), the spiral or cup spring being held in compression by a bolt. ADVANTAGE - Lightweight tackle needing no counterbalance.
