The concentric walls have a one-piece connection at the socket end facing the fastener (4). A stop face (17) at the end of the outer wall (7) remote from the fastener ensures correct positioning of the socket in the supporting structural element or support plate. The socket is anchored securely in the support plate by axial longitudinal ribs or an external thread on the outside of the socket. The socket is placed in the support plate in the factory and the attachment is added later by the unskilled end user. USE/ADVANTAGE - Protective packaging around pre -fitted knobs and handles on furniture is avoided resulting in less environmentally unacceptable packaging waste.
