Each conductor consists of a strand of resistive material or a core with a resistive sheath. The twist causes cancellation of the interfering effect of e.m. radiation over the length of the cable, through positive and negative effects exerted with equal magnitudes on alternate half-turns. Instead of a simple twisted pair the cable may comprise parallel conductors (1,2) each having a section wound on the toroidal core (3) of a differential transformer whereby the interference component (I1) of the current is cancelled. USE/ADVANTAGE - In motor vehicles, ships and aircraft susceptible to strong e.m. interference, data transmission is safeguarded with additional security by the twist of the conductors in opposite directions.
