The seal consists of a long flexible strand which swells in water because of its bentonite content and which starts with a water-repellent covering. This covering is a plastic material which is insol. in water but soluble in alkaline medium. The material concerned is pref. a polymer which uses at least one acrylic and methacrylic acid and a termonomer of vinyl ester gp. ADVANTAGE - The prod. can have any cross-section required.
