The support bandage (1) fits around the knee joint, with incorporated inserts (2) for reducing the strain exerted on the joint. A temp-regulated heating and/or cooling element (5) is provided on the inside of the support bandage, with a temp. sensor (10) controlling a regulator (9) for the supplied heating and/or cooling current. Pref. the regulator is coupled to a programmable microprocessor (13) with a memory holding data relating to the patient and the required treatment, for controlling the function of the heating and/or cooling device.
