The machine consists of washing rinsing and drying devices arranged in series and in which items to be washed are placed in containers.The chamber (9,10,11) of each device has horizontal inlet opening (15) and a corresponding outlet opening (16) for the containers (13),and inlets and outlets of at least the washer (9) and the rinser (10) are provided with watertight closures. The closures are in the form of sliding doors(27,29) with seals.Each sliding door has two plates between which an actuator is located.The chambers can move longitudinally on tracks (30,31) and are pressed against each other (32) against the force of springs (33).Before the doors are opened the chambers are allowed to separate.The positioning system has two positioning tools (35,36) which extend into the chambers when the doors are opened.A container transport system (14) is provided upstream of the washer.
