The conventional milling machine has specially shaped tools with fluid jets at the ends to direct high pressure fluid onto the workpiece. The milling fluid is used either to cool-lubricate the mechanical tools or as a milling agent itself when the pressure is set at a higher level. The high pressure fluid pump operates at a low level for conventional lubrication and at the enhanced level for the hydromechanical, milling, e.g. for special effects, to reach otherwise difficult places etc. the fluid is filtered and recycled to the pump. Detectors using light, pressure or sound waves in the fluid lines monitor the pressure pulses for the milling effect. ADVANTAGE - Multi-purpose equipment, same electronic control system for both types of milling, cost effective system.
