Seating for railway points in rolling and sliding chairs - provides inclined surface over which blade is slid into contact with web of rail after departure from rollers
Seating for railway points in rolling and sliding chairs - provides inclined surface over which blade is slid into contact with web of rail after departure from rollers
Each blade (6) is seated alongside the rail (3) on a support (9) secured by screws (16) to a sleeper (7). The support extends (15) under the rail and carries both a sliding chair (10) on a slope (12) corresp. to that of the underside of the blade, and a rolling chair (11) with rollers (14) from which the blade moves on to the sliding chair before contacting the rail. Both blades are translated in synchronism by an electric motorised drive incorporating a rack-and-pinion arrangement, covered for protection against dirt and damage from wintry weather. ADVANTAGE - Maintenance costs are reduced and environmental pollution is avoided by the elimination of lubricants.
