The inner gas-conveying pipe (5) of the pipe element (1) comprising an outer (3) and inner (5) pipe is thermally insulated at its end associated with the flange (4) from the outer pipe (3) and the associated flange (4). The inner pipe can have in the flange area over the entire circumference a radial distance (6) from the outer pipe and/or flange. The inner pipe can be held centred in the flange area relative to the outer pipe and/or flange by a ring element (7). The inner pipe axially protrudes over the connecting point between the two pipe elements (1,2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Flange connection is esp. for pipe connections where the outer pipe is designed for support and the inner pipe is made of thinner material intended only to convey gas.
