The shade (3) of the light fitting (1) is secured to a bottom plate (10) by holders (4). The light fitting contains an electric lamp, with a lamp switch (6) on the bottom plate. The switch is operatively coupled to the shade and/or to the holders. Pref. the holders are elastic and slidably coupled to the bottom plate, abutting the pushbutton type switch. Alternately a sensor switch may be used whose sensor line (5) is coupled to the shade and/or the holders. The sensor line is a flat strip cable, which may be an adhesive strip, with two conductive strips spaced so as to be bridged by a finger tip. ADVANTAGE - Simple design for easy switching-on in darkness.
