Method of manufacturing externally toothed hollow bodies - uses forming die and rollers to reduce original blank diameter to preliminary working diameter for tooth cutting

The rollers reduce the original diameter of the workpiece to the preliminary working diameter for forming of the toothing. One or more tooth cutting tools are located directly behind the rollers in direction of advance. The widening of the external diameter is simultaneously used for profile forming. After the end of the forward stroke, the rollers are pivoted outwards. Finish profiling takes place during the return stroke, pref. with opposite direction of rotation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Produces high quality externally-profiled hollow shafts. Flexible process which does not require precision during preliminary working and gives improved precision of internal diameter.
